Only an hour from NYC, including a short 20 minute ferry ride, Fire Island offers a true beach escape. Located just a few miles south of Islip and separated by the Great South Bay in Long Island, Fire Island offers individuals and families the opportunity to vacation like the Rich and Famous. You will be left breathless as you watch the Atlantic Ocean’s waves beat against Fire Island’s pristine dune beaches. Every home in Kismet is no more than 2 blocks from the beach making it convenient for all.
Great Site for Kismet Event Schedule
Today Fire Island is one of the hottest places to have a beach house. No cars allowed makes for a unique tranquil and stress free experience. Fire Island has never succumb to the same commercialism and class barriers that haunts the Hamptons. Fire Island has no restaurants that require a tie and people here opt for casual dress. This still is a truly laid back Bohemian getaway where relaxation is paramount. The striking sunsets are worth the trip alone.

Kismet is truly a unique Fire Island experience. Located furthest west on Fire Island and being closest to the city, it is easily accessible via train or car to the ferry. With Kismet’s easy proximity to Field 5 at Robert Moses beach and the Lighthouse, some people or friends do walk in for a day trip.

Kismet, with approximately 200 homes, boast a friendly summertime residence of families and single people of all ages. Kismet offers more than many communities. There is truly something for everyone: biking; public Tennis & Basketball; nature walks; Lighthouse tours; great dining at 2 restaurants (The Inn and The Out); Food Market and Sandwich Shop; Pizzeria; Large Marina; Live Entertainment; and Dancing till dawn.

With Kismet’s laid back atmosphere, it would not be unusual for a live band block party or a community Breast Cancer Benefit.

Want to travel elsewhere and explore other Fire Island communities? It’s easy by lateral ferry or Water Taxi. The Water Taxi leaves every 30 minutes and will bring you to your destination within minutes.

I have been coming to Kismet for over 20 years and truly feel blessed to return every year. I am not a broker.  I am a homeowner and own some rental properties.  I know many of the homeowners and can usually point you in the right direction.  I look forward to hearing from you and helping you with your summer rental needs!
